Paid Internship Opportunity 

As part of our Minority Internship Program, 4Sight, is looking for a college student with flexible hours in the Summer 2020 and an opportunity to continue into the 2020/21 school year. 

 

Background:

  • 4Sight is a Cincinnati-based company that mines user generated content (reviews, social media comments) for insights for brands. We are a small team comprised of 5 individuals – a CEO/Founder, VP Business Development, VP Brand Strategy, Director Analytics & Director Operations.

  • 4Sight was started by Mark Jeffreys – after spending 17 years at Procter & Gamble in marketing –  with a vision of stepchanging how brands grow their business through mining real-time, unfiltered feedback from consumers for actionable insights.

  • 4Sight has proven out its approach over the past year+ analyzing over 20M datapoints for over a dozen P&G brands and clients ranging from Clorox and Russell Stover to Royal Canin and Energizer.

  • Pre-COVID 19, we did work out of Union Hall in OTR, and hope to return to co-working together in July 2020.  This role would be co-located with the team.

 

Opportunity:

A part-time (15 hours/week) paid internship with flexible work hours/days of week with a focus on Business Development/Marketing.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Work with our VP Business Development to among other things:

  • Research and make a recommendation on how best to expand in new industries e.g. alcoholic beverages (where we have done some work, but where there is more opportunity).

  • Develop case studies/marketing collateral based on current client work to enable expansion.

  • Research, recommend and create new sales tools to help enable further expansion of current offerings with new clients – learning how to pitch potential clients on new business.

  • Craft proposals/Statements of Work for prospective clients.

Qualifications:

Accredited College Student, preferably in a Business Program, with a strong academic and leadership record.  Ideal for a rising Junior or Senior as this part-time internship could turn into full-time over time, but open to students of any year.

Brand Strategist Opportunity

The role of the Brand Strategist at 4Sight is the connection point between Data Scientists and our Clients.  Once a new engagement is agreed to via Business Development then our Operations Director will extract the relevant user generated content (UGC) from review and/or social sites.  That data gets run through the 4Sight algorithms – leveraging natural language processing, machine learning and text analytics – out of which is an incredibly rich data set including some ‘ready to use’ graphs, but also data around drivers, themes, etc that need the trained eye of a Brand Strategist to turn it into a “story” with concrete recommendations for clients.  That’s where you come in.

As a Brand Strategist at 4Sight, you will:

  • Analyze data output from the 4Sight algorithm that leverages thousands of user generated comments – extracting patterns that no machine can always see.  All engagements include at least 1 competitive brand as a benchmark and years of data which shows longitudinal learning.  These longitudinal and competitive datapoints help frame up context for the learning for the brand and the basis of recommendations.

  • Summarize that data into a succinct story of what it means for the brand.  This will include a clear set of recommendations framed in a business impact way.  This will require a both working independently, but also closely collaborating with other team members as you make connections in the data to tell a compelling story of what action the brand should take.

  • Create strategic solutions that integrate data from 4Sight algorithm with experience, industry knowledge, and client knowledge whether recommendations are marketing, sales or R&D specific.

  • Lead presentation of findings with clients and follow-ups including working those back with Data Scientists and other team members.

  • Manage client work streams – ensuring the deliverables can be met with capacity of the team and adhering closely to internal and external deadlines.

  • Establish solid relationships with mid-senior level members of client team (i.e. Director and VP levels) in partnership with 4Sight Business Development.

  • Help clients and teams understand how they can integrate learning from 4Sight solution into their work streams and measure impact.

  • Provide unscripted strategic counsel—can ‘think on their feet' without disrupting strategic direction.

  • Entrepreneurial attitude – a “can-do”, roll-up-your-sleeves no drama attitude of growing a business.

  • Ability and passion to develop team of Brand Strategists over time which you would lead.

 

You're a great fit for this position if you have:

  • 5+ years CPG/Consumer Goods manufacturer and/or agency experience; or an advanced degree and 3+ years CPG/Consumer Goods Manufacturer and/or agency experience.

  • Deep experience in analyzing data and being able to see patterns that tell a story.

  • Strong communication skills – ability to present findings to clients and build confidence in end result.

 

This role is located in Cincinnati, OH.  4Sight currently works out of Union Hall in Over the Rhine, but in the late Spring we will be moving to a newly renovated space in the Paramount Building in Walnut Hills – one of the hottest neighborhoods in Cincinnati (neighbors with Esoteric Brewery – the first minority owned brewery in Cincinnati!).  And yes that will mean some fun team-building activities with our neighbor!
